It doesn't take much money, effort or time to make a home feel like Christmas. A few well-chosen touches do most of the work. Here are six quick ways to bring the season indoors.

1. Lean into the lights

Nothing says Christmas faster than fairy lights, and plenty of them. String them around a doorway, a window or some greenery — they're quick to put up and instantly set the mood.

2. Keep the decor simple

Less really is more. A few meaningful pieces — stockings on the mantel, a couple of festive cushions — do more than a cluttered display, and take minutes.

3. Hang a wreath

The classic. A wreath on the front door is about as quick as decorating gets, and it welcomes you and every visitor with instant festive cheer.

4. Add cosy textiles

Christmas is made for hunkering down with a film and a blanket. Seasonal throws and cushions add warmth and a festive layer with almost no effort.

5. Simplify the tree

Every home needs one, so pick an artificial tree that's easy to put up and pack away. Modern ones look convincingly real and come in every size.

6. Bring in foliage

Holly, berries, ferns and winter blooms are a beautiful, low-effort way to make any room feel festive. A little natural greenery lifts a space instantly.
