Five Marketing Channels for Letting Your Property
Where to advertise a rental — and which channel fits which landlord.
Finding good tenants has never been easier, provided you use the right mix of traditional and online channels. Which one fits depends on your target market — and the time, money and effort you want to put in.
Word of mouth
The oldest channel still works. Let existing tenants know about an opening, ask them to spread the word, or tap friends and family — a referred tenant often arrives with built-in trust.
Social media
A property can be advertised straight from your phone. Facebook Marketplace in particular opens a listing up to a large audience, and reaches younger renters especially well.
Newspapers & magazines
Print still has an avid readership, and many titles run online editions too. It’s a useful route if you’re aiming at an older demographic.
A property manager or agent
Firms like London Shared handle the whole letting process, marketing included, with the expertise to do it well — leaving you completely hands-off and stress-free.
The big portals
Established sites like Zoopla and Rightmove generate huge numbers of views. Results depend on your price, photos and listing detail, so it pays to make a listing that really stands out.
The best campaigns usually run two or three of these at once, matched to the tenant you’re trying to reach.
